For men over 50.

You're not done yet.

You're getting started.

Acting Like a Teenager

Oh to be young again......

Actually, you’re still young.

I know some ninety-year-olds that would call you a spring chicken.

It’s fun to connect to our youth on a regular basis. I’ve do this many ways with my kids.

Video games........Nope. A total waste of precious time.

Silly YouTube videos that my kids laugh at.......Ugh, I wish I thought they were funny.

Snap chat and texting language........... Strike three. I’m a big fan of good grammar.

Wait a minute, I know how we can connect to our youth:

Bench Pressing.

Oh yes.

The Bench Press is something every teenage boy does who wants to get some muscle. Many times that’s all they do.

That, sit ups, and curls. Obsessed with building only the muscles they can see in the mirror.

They look lop-sided.

Heavy in the front. light in the back. Skinny legs.

Besides feeling like a teenager again, why do we want to Bench Press?

Because this over done exercise rounds out and balances our program, and our bodies.

That’s what gives it its place as the last of the Core 4 exercises.

The Bench Press is for any man who wants to live a strong, active life deep into his 2nd 50 years.

The best part is that you get to lay on your back.

Oh-ho-ho yes. As we grind out the other three lifts standing on our feet, the Bench Press allows us to work hard while laying down.

You can’t beat that with a stick! I call Bench Press day the Lazy Day, and I very much look forward to it.

In our 2nd50strong program, it comes the day after The Squat.

After we’ve strained so many muscles in our bodies under a heavy bar, we get rewarded by taking gravity off our spines and being totally supported by a bench.

It’s well deserved.

The Bench Press works all of the chest muscles better than any other exercise. It also works the front shoulders and the back of the arms.

Surprisingly, it also works your back muscles and legs once you learn how to do it correctly.

As the weight gets heavy, the upper back muscles work hard to stabilize the shoulder blades, and your legs will be pushing into the floor to anchor your body under the bar.

A proper Bench Press gets your whole body involved, and fits the criteria of the 2nd50strong, Core 4 program.

Being supported by a bench, and with the short bar travel, you’ll be moving much more weight than with The Press. This allows you to get your upper body really strong, really fast.

Which feels really good.

It’s the best at giving your upper body raw strength that you’ll feel and use throughout your day.

The Bench Press will square up and fill out your entire chest area, which is equally appealing for men and women.

It also grows and firms the back of your arms. Men like that upside down horse shoe look, and women like the defined, hard lines in the back of their man's arms. My wife enjoys it very much.

The Bench Press does involve using a bench, no surprise there. This is an extra piece of equipment to purchase if you work out at home, but well worth the investment.

So let’s start the revolution and be the new breed of aging!

Build our bodies up by laying down - with the Bench Press.

Just like the teenagers do it.

But we do it better.
